Do I feel sorry for them? No, I do not. Thankfully I am at the age when my children have grown up and Little Miss is married and has two young sons. Little Mister is also married but there will be no patter of tiny feet in that home.

As I get older I notice that today's children are noisier and less able to accept discipline than children of my day. We did as we were told and were not allowed to talk back. The Grandsons take no notice of their parents and only marginally more of us. It seems that each succeeding generation is less disciplined than the one before. I shudder to think what this country will be like in two or three generations time. Can we please go back to how things were when I was young?

People generally blame each other for the above but the bottom line is that parents fail to establish ground rules when children are young. It is too late to start doing this when youngsters have developed a personality. It is no good blaming teachers or others outside the home either.

A healthy respect for the Policeman patrolling the streets was engendered years ago. Tales abound of youngsters stepping out of line, to be cuffed by the Bobby. It was no good running home to report the assault to parents because another cuffing would be administered. And, what is more, it didn't do us any harm.

The Government should stop interfering and laying down so many dos and don'ts. Parents should attend parenting classes before having the first child and then the rest will follow.

Do you agree with my views, or do you think I am a fuddy-duddy. I don't care which way you think but I would like your views.
